Sushi After Labs
Once or twice a week, I am at UVA hospital. I am either having blood tests or I am participating in physical therapy. On my way out, on the way back to home, I often stop on the way for lunch. Tokyo Rose is not only right on the way home, but it’s very tasty. Good sushi for me (sushi being my personal favorite dish). They also have a good non- sushi for my mom, who won’t eat raw fish (blasphemy!) Anyway, visiting for my blog, I got plain salmon rolls and the Mother’s Day (it was not Mother’s Day) roll, made with spicy sauce, eel & crunchy bits. My mom had Crab Rangoon and Shrimp Shumai Dumplings. My sushi was very good. I rarely get sushi that isn’t basic raw tuna and salmon, so having the Mother’s Day roll was a risk, but it ended up paying off, as I really liked it. The salmon was excellent as well. My mom (who does not love Asian food) thought the crab was tasty yet heavy. She quite liked the shrimp dipping sauce. Overall, we both enjoyed the meal. It’s reasonably accessible, if you find a decent parking spot.
